キウイといえば鳥でもフルーツでもなく、ニュージーランド人が自分たちのことを指すときの呼称。
島に生まれた人も移住してきた人も、誰もがうれしそうに誇りをもって使える言葉。

kiwi（キウイ）は、森の中を歩いて暮らすことを選んだ鳥。飛ばなくなることもまた進化のひとつだ。
ノースランドではkiwiのシルエットが描かれたサインをよく目にしたが、私たちが出会ったのはロトルア湖畔のRainbow Springsにて。

Why Cuckoo clock is called as “pigeons clock” in Japan?
鳩時計のこと

In Japan Cuckoo clocks were very popular in the 1970’s.
But now they are bit old fashioned item- but still lovely.
They are called as “pigeons clocks” in Japan, that’s why –
cuckoos are called “kankodori”, the name make a negative image for Japanese,
which means their buissiness is not going well especially for shop keepers.
Then they introduced the cuckoo as pigeon, just a symbol for this peaceful item.
